GINGER ANNA, or HOW MUCH IS THE BONE!

Geisslers Hofcomoedianten
GINGER ANNA, or HOW MUCH IS THE BONE!

Ginger Anna is dying!

How will she secure a place in paradise when she has cruelly ruled her subjects all her life, sinned and squandered her wealth in gambling? A piece of holy flesh for every sin! The willing seller is happy to leaf through his catalogue, advise and sell. How much will Anna pay for her redemption? This could make for quite a (in)decent business. So, long live the relics! The production is loosely based on the legends about Ginger Anna, the Countess of Střílky in Moravia, and the phenomenon of collecting relics and placing them in figurative reliquaries.

About the artist:

Since their foundation in 2002 at Kuks, the “court comedians” have specialized in reviving forgotten plays, legends, and historical themes, into which they like to mix contemporary grotesquery, punk energy, and precise puppetry. Their productions, often performed on their home stage in Štvanice Villa or in unique exteriors, are visual feasts in which stylized movement meets hyperbole and playful work with objects. The Geisslers prove that Baroque principles – from grand emotions to harsh humour – are surprisingly understandable and extremely alive even for today's audience.
