A theatre break from the chaos of the world with fragile metal puppets, sounds, and shadows.
The texts from the collections Zen Compass (Seung Sahn) and Ocean in the Dew Drop (Henri Brunel) deal with the theme of respect for life in its most subtle and overlooked forms, as well as the more general meaning of life. The production uses natural materials, non-descriptive metal puppets made of wire and coloured plastic. A simultaneous use of puppets and shadow play in front of and behind a paper screen produces an artistically original shape. The play is accompanied by a narrator and a musician playing a modified double bass and other unique acoustic instruments
About the theatre:
We founded the Líšeň Theatre as an independent, experimental theatre. We work with puppets, masks, objects, movement, and sound stylization. We present our productions, workshops, and accompanying educational programmes to the general public and schools. We play in Brno, all over the country, and at festivals abroad.
We also focus on human rights and political issues. We have been cooperating with Roma dancers and musicians for a long time and we visit disadvantaged audiences in institutions and care centres. We organize festivals. In our place of residence, Brno-Líšeň, we participate in the community development of the municipality and we initiated the establishment of the “Líšeň sobě” association.
