When everything unthinkable during the day, materializes, comes to life and our body becomes mere material? And what happens when we leave the bedroom in the morning and all our dreams, fears and secret desires that we spent the night with remain locked up there?
They say we don't have just one self, we have more. In our ordinary life, these selves limit each other so that we can function in everyday situations. But what happens when these selves free themselves from the others and become autonomous?
The places and landscapes where all this can happen lie in the unknown land (terra incognita). The ancient cartographers believed that fantastic monsters, dragons and leviathans lived in unknown territories in remote corners of the world. In Hic Sunt Dracones, human body parts, objects and materials turn into unknown landscapes and creatures, unthinkable situations and unimaginable stories. It is not, however, an expedition into remote regions, into the fantastic world of utopias, but a journey into our own minds and the hidden corners of our souls.
About the theatre:
The Continuo Theatre was founded in 1992 at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts by Helena and Pavel Štourač. Shortly afterwards, the company moved to South Bohemia, where it has been settled in the former farmstead “Švestkový Dvůr” (Plum Yard) in Malovice since 1995. During its existence, the ensemble has created over 60 performances and site-specific projects revealing a journey from its puppet beginnings through the inspiration by street theatre and the new circus to its current unique form of theatrical language, combining physical acting with unmistakable visual poetics and live music.
