But what would we do if we had to choose between truth and freedom? How not to lose ourselves in the face of totalitarianism that absorbs all signs of individuality, free thought and expression? Milan Šimečka, a Czechoslovak philosopher and writer, like many political dissidents, tried to remain true to himself, to his opinions and beliefs. The puppet production, Comrade Dissident, brings a unique perspective on the mosaic of the life of this exceptional man and tries to zoom in not only on his fate, but also on the period of time he lived in. The production was created by dramatizing a comic book of the same title by the trio of authors, Matúš Vizár, Michal Hvorecký and Adrián Hnát, which is based on extensive research in archives and libraries, as well as on eyewitness accounts.
