Autumn is coming. It is necessary to prepare properly for winter, but Renard the fox loses his home and all his supplies. He has to support himself and his family, but he can’t rely on help from other animals. He takes into his head that what he does not get by hook, he will take it by crook. He sets out on robbery expeditions, and soon, rumours of the greatest robber of all time begin to spread throughout the suburbs among animals and humans alike.
What was initially a necessity for Renard is becoming a passionate sport. He enjoys his marauding stunts more and more. He sets his sights higher and higher, quite forgetting about the dangers he faces. How far will Renard the fox’s passion for robbery take him? Are there situations in which cheating is allowed? Will he make amends? These and other questions will be answered by a puppet adventure comedy inspired by legends and stories about a clever fox from the beginning of time to the present.
About the theatre:
The Naive Theatre Liberec was established in 1949, as one of the first professional puppet theatres in the former Czechoslovakia, celebrating the 70th anniversary of its existence in 2019. It is at the absolute top in contemporary Czech puppet theatre, focusing mainly on children and young people. Between 2009 and 2019, its productions received the prestigious Erik Puppetry Award, awarded for the best Czech puppet production of the past season, five times. Every two years, the Naive Theatre organizes the international Mateřinka Festival, which focuses on puppet productions for preschool children. In its programme, the Naive Theatre emphasizes original author’s work, and, above all, it persistently strives to produce puppet performances, regardless of whether the term puppet is used to describe figurative, object, or any other type of visual theatre. Audiences have been able to see Productions of the Naive Theatre at international festivals throughout Europe, as well as in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Pakistan, Israel, Mexico, Canada and the USA.
From 1991 to 2020, it was led by the director Stanislav Doubrava, who was replaced by Kateřina Pavlů in 2021. The artistic director is Michaela Homolová.
