In our story, Iwami Jutaro fights a monster to save a village girl. The production will be performed using the technique of the Japanese traditional puppet "Ito-Ayatsuri", which dates back to the 17th century. This show has been presented at festivals in Japan and abroad.
About the theatre:
Marionette Minomushi Theatre was established in 1975. It is headquartered in Kyoto but operates throughout Japan. It started offering a regular programme in 2011. Its main titles are Little Red Riding Hood, Taro-kun and the Straightforward Old Woman, Ghost Story and Strong Iwami Jutaro and Snow Monster Hi-Hi. The key figure of the ensemble is Mr. Koichi Iumuro, who is considered one of the best puppet handlers in Japan. During his career, he has designed and made more than 1,000 puppets. He has performed abroad (Korea, France, Portugal, etc.) and is a member of the Japanese UNIMA centre. Since 1977, he has also run educational programmes on NHK television.
